I never imagined I would find myself in the wedding industry. I am not surprised however that I have developed such an intense love of baking and decorating wedding cakes. My journey started following my graduation from the University of Arizona with a BA in education; I agreed to make my older sister’s wedding cupcakes, and while quite pregnant, I absolutely fell in love with it. Along with being a huge foodie, I am an artist. Making beautiful food is simply the pièce de résistance.
Just a few short months following my sister’s wedding, I started my first charming and gourmet made-to-order cupcake business called Sweet Bean Cupcakery. In an effort to learn about marketing in Tucson, I reached out to Tucson Bride and Groom magazine, and from there, found the owner of Ambrosia of Tucson, Ms. Jaynie Rossi. I sat down with Jaynie and learned the art of wedding cakes, and thus began my apprenticeship with one of Tucson’s favorite cake bakers. Since then, I have taken over and made Ambrosia my own.
“Ambrosia” is defined as “the food of the Gods,” and was named appropriately by Ms. Rossi for the times her father would remark on something absolutely delicious.
I sometimes find myself saying, “Well, it’s just cake!” But it is so much more than that. Your wedding cake is an expression of you and the undeniably special love between you. Let’s create a cake that you’ll swoon over for the rest of your life together.
